Kongo Coffee is a leading Papua New Guinea (PNG) coffee company. We have been involved in the PNG coffee industry for well over 20 years in growing, buying, processing, roasting and exporting of coffee. We have also diversified into transport services, coffee shops and distribution of Bravilor Bonamat coffee brewing machines and accessories. Our operations are based in Simbu Province, Papua New Guinea's third largest coffee producing province. We are Simbu's premier coffee company and have access to most of our farmer's annual coffee production, totaling some 120,000 bags or 7,200 tons. Our farmers produce some of the finest smallholder coffee Papua New Guinea has to offer.
We have a team of experienced Papua New Guinean coffee experts who have dedicated many years of their lives to the coffee industry in our country. With our experiences and commitments, we have built a very strong reputation with our overseas buyers for delivery of high quality products, first class services and reliability over the last two decades.
We have recently installed and commissioned a new 6 tons/hour processing line in our factory and upgraded our existing 2 tons/hour processing line with new machines from Pinhalense (Brazil). With these latest developments, we now have the largest and most modern dry mill facility in Papua New Guinea; capable of producing high quality and big volumes of green bean coffee for our growing list of overseas buyers. Since the completion of our expansions and the installations to our dry mills, our volumes and the quality of our green beans have increased significantly.
We started a small roast and ground coffee division within our operations in 2002 using a 4 kilo roaster. Our main aim was to roast and supply the domestic PNG market with a selection of very high quality coffee beans. The demand and popularity of our coffee was growing so fast that we had to replace our 4 kilo roaster with a 15 kilo roaster within two years. It was not long before we had to add a second 15 kilo roaster to keep up with increasing demands for our coffee! Despite these additions and in light of the increasing demands for our coffee both locally and internationally, it became necessary to invest in a bigger and better roasting facility.
In 2013, we took a decision to invest in a new roasting facility comprising of a new building and a customized 50kg roasting and packing line. We completed our new building and the installations of an automated processing line comprising of a 50 kg roaster, destoner, grinder, automatic packing and sealing machine in December 2014.
In January 2015, we successfully commissioned our new roasting facility with a representative from Diedrich Roasters, the manufacturer of our new roaster from the USA. We now have the best and most modern roasting facility in PNG and are ready to roast high quality coffee for our ever growing demands from both within and outside of PNG. In addition to the commissioning, we had the benefit of onsite trainings for our staff conducted by a highly qualified coffee professional from Diedrich Roasters, the manufacturer of our roaster. By the end of November 2015, we have already roasted and supplied the local PNG market 30 tons of high quality coffee.
